The Red Dot Security News publication will likely be impacted by Hurricane Milton as I live in the Tampa Bay area. I will attempt to publish on schedule if I have internet and power. But, I didn’t want to leave you wondering why nothing has appeared if I miss this weekend (and possibly a few more).
My prayers go out to those who will likely lose everything as a result of this massive incident. This event will poignantly test whether businesses’ Incident Response, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity plans were properly scoped.
- Incident Response – something bad is coming or has come, am I prepared and able to mitigate loss/damage?
- Disaster Recovery – something bad has happened, am I able to resume operation (Business Resumed)?
- Business Continuity – something bad is coming, and/or it has happened, how do I sustain my business until I am Business Resumed?
As you can see, the plans above are not just for malicious actors, they should include scenarios for natural disasters, and for man-made ones such as a hazardous chemical spill, fire, etc.
Keep the shields up, the storm is coming!
